Congleton Food & Drink Festival - Website

Congleton Food and Drink Festival – Website

We were asked to create a new website for the Congleton Food and Drink Festival. They needed something that captures the fun festival spirit but is easy to navigate. The website also needed to be easy and quick to update with new information, as there are new developments all of the time.

The Food and Drink Festival already had effective branding in place and so it was important for us to work with the logo and the colours to develop a website design around it. We picked out the colours on the logo to create the cheery bunting design across the site header to draw in the eye and evoke the fun, family atmosphere of the fesitval. We created a ‘quick info’ area, with a green accent colour to stand-out, where visitors can quickly see time and date information, access a map, get latest news and follow on Twitter and Facebook.

There are some fantastic pictures of previous festivals so we created a slideshow on the homepage, not only to showcase these, but the gentle movement of the images give the page some added dynamism in-keeping with the festival itself.

The pages of the site are each given an area of focus for people wanting more detail. There is a Tasty Town Week page which celebrates a whole week of food related events. There are community pages to share how schools and the community have been involved. The Grow, Cook, Eat, Enjoy! page was added for people to share things all about good food and food production and will develop as the community gets more involved. We have added here a feed from a BBC website with a new reciepe everyday, giving people a good reason to revist the site each day, without lots of input from the fesitval team.

The ‘back office’ area of the site has been kept as clean and simple as possible, to make it easy for anyone in the team to update with minimal instruction. We have created an automated area so that pictures auto-resize correctly for the site so that new images can be added qucikly with no fuss or need for specialist photo-editing software.

We are so pleased to have played our part in such a vibrant community fesitval and can’t wait to visit on Sunday 26th June to sample the tasty food and drink and enjoy the performers, musicians and artists involved! Take a look now to whet your appetite www.foodanddrinkfestival.net
